One of my favorite things to do as a travel blogger is explore the different ways technology can help me plan a trip and explore my destination once I arrive! Currently, I'm in the process of planning my big birthday trip that I'm hoping to take in about 18 months. I have decided to create my own itinerary and need some inspiration from fellow travelers to make the most of my vacation.
As I find myself stepping into the shoes of many people who visit my blog for ideas of where to go when traveling to different cities, I recently discovered that there's an easier way to navigate to the places that are featured in blog posts: GPS-Guided Travel Articles Apps.
What is a GPS-Guided Travel Article App?
A GPS-Guided Travel Article App is a travel article or blog post that is converted and available to download and use offline as an app on your phone. The locations in the original article or blog post are mapped and use GPS to guide you to the different places that are featured all within a single app called GPSmyCity!
It's FREE to view and download articles to simply have available for reading while offline. There is typically a small fee of about $2 USD to download GPS-enable versions of articles in the GPSmyCity app, and there are thousands of global articles to choose from. A few bucks is certainly cheaper than paying someone to plan your travel itinerary if you're working with a more limited budget. It's basically an experienced, local tour guide in your bag or pocket for a very low price!
Accessing Travel Articles in GPSmyCity
Download the GPSmyCity app on your phone.
Set up your account.
Browse the thousands of cities or search for the city you plan to visit next.
Look for tiles that include the blue rectangular "Insider Tips" tag which indicates a Travel Article.
Tap the article you would like to view.
Download Article to Read Offline: Tap the menu button in the top right corner of the screen and select "Download for offline use" download articles to read when offline - for FREE.
Download Article with GPS-guidance: Tap the menu button in the top right corner of the screen and select "View attractions on map" and pay the small fee for the upgrade.

After learning about GPS-Guided Travel Article Apps from the team at GPSmyCity (the app that I used to plan my Downtown Austin Walking Tour), I realized that it would probably be beneficial to give people the opportunity to use some of my vacation, day trip, and other relevant posts as GPS-Guided Travel Article Apps.
